THE BENEFITS OF CHARGING ON THE GO.
BE FLEXIBLE. USE PUBLIC CHARGING STATIONS.
Conveniently park and charge your car the next time you go into town. Public charging of electric cars and plug-in hybrids offers you total flexibility. On longer journeys or when travelling, charge your fully electric car ultra-fast at high-power charging stations. Charging cables and the BMW Charging Card for the public charging network are included when you purchase your BMW electric car or plug-in hybrid.
EXTENSIVE CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE.
Make use of the Active tariff to charge at a transparent and attractive fixed price in one of Europe's largest and continuously growing charging networks. Public charging stations for your electric car close to you are easy to find on BMW Maps, in the My BMW app or in your vehicle. Alternatively, plan your charge-optimised route, either conveniently via the My BMW app or directly in your vehicle.
CHARGE QUICKLY, AND ARRIVE FASTER.
Save valuable time with ultra-fast charging. On the go, at high-power charging stations, like the charging stations operated by our partner IONITY and very cost-effectively in the BMW Charging network. The charge-optimised route in your BMW electric car’s navigation system lets you see charging stations in advance. This helps to shorten longer journeys, as you can charge plenty of range in a very short time.

Public Charging
High-power charging station
You can charge your vehicle particularly quickly at a high-power charging station (e.g. such as those in the IONITY network). The direct current (DC) provided at these stations offers significantly higher charging capacities than with alternating current (AC), such as that supplied by a domestic socket. This is why high-power charging stations such as these are especially suitable for charging when travelling. In the display, you can see the minimum time needed to charge from 10 to 80% of the battery charge level with maximum vehicle charging capacity. Within this range, charging is fastest and also preserves the battery. A look at the map shows you all the high-power charging stations within the BMW Charging network.
Fast charging station
If you need to act quickly in the city or while travelling, a fast charging station is just the right choice. This is because the direct current (DC) provided at these stations offers higher charging capacities than with alternating current (AC), such as that supplied by a domestic socket. This is why fast charging stations such as these are especially suitable for charging when you are travelling. In the display, you can see the minimum time needed to charge from 10 to 80% of the battery charge level with up to 50 kW output. Within this range, charging is fastest and also preserves the battery. A look at the map shows you all fast charging station within the BMW Charging network.
AC charging station
You will find public charging stations with alternating current (AC) almost everywhere. They are especially suitable for regular charging over longer periods of time – such as overnight or while you are at work. In the display, you will find the minimum time for charging from 0–100% battery charge level with a maximum output of 22 kW. The charging performance depends on the equipment options for the vehicle. Take a look at the map and discover all the charging stations with alternating current in the BMW Charging network.
Home Charging
Wallbox / Flexible Fast Charger
At home you can charge your vehicle with a Wallbox or the Flexible Fast Charger. Alternating current (AC) is used for both. Depending on the vehicle, special equipment and market, the Wallbox provides a maximum charging output of 22 kW, the Flexible Fast Charger a maximum of 11 kW. In the display, you will see the minimum time for charging from 0-100 % battery charge level with an output of 11 kW.
Filter charging stations
The charging capacity depends on the charge level, ambient temperature, individual driving profile and use of auxiliary devices as well as the actual vehicle selected. The charging times apply to ambient temperatures of 23 °C following a prior journey and may deviate according to usage characteristics.
Use the My BMW app to find charging stations as well as to plan, check and manage charging operations – both at home and when travelling. Experience the full range of functions from the My BMW app in demo mode.

[1] Official data for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, power consumption and electric range was determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring procedure and corresponds to European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the applicable version. For ranges, data determined as per WLTP takes into account any optional equipment (available on the German market in this case). For vehicles that have been newly type approved since 1 January 2021, only the official data according to WLTP exists. In addition, NEDC values are deleted from the certificates of conformity as of 1 January 2023 by EC regulation 2022/195. For more information about NEDC and WLTP measuring procedures visit www.bmw.com/wltp
Further information about fuel consumption and official model-specific CO2 emissions of new passenger cars can be found in the "Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption for new passenger cars", available free of charge at all points of sale, at the Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen, Germany, and under https://www.dat.de/co2/.
[2] Range depends on various factors, in particular: individual driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, heating/air conditioning, pre-conditioning.
[3] The charging performance depends on the state of charge, ambient temperature, individual driving profile and use of auxiliary consumers. The ranges shown are based on the WLTP best case. The charging times apply to ambient temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius after a preceding drive and may differ depending on the usage behaviour.
[4] The My BMW app is compatible with all BMW cars from model year 2014 onwards. It needs ConnectedDrive Services equipment to be fitted, and use of a compatible smartphone. The availability and functions of the My BMW app are market-dependent.
