BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps in the BMW X6.

An essential head start: Innovative BMW ConnectedDrive equipment makes sure that you stay connected at all times. Via Services & Apps, you have direct in-car access to information, entertainment and online services. For example, Real Time Traffic Information lets you check the traffic situation on your route in advance.

CONNECTED DRIVE SERVICES.

The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services forms the basis for BMW ConnectedDrive functions, which provide the driver with a wide range of information, entertainment and service features while on the road.
These include BMW Online, which provides access to current, localised information such as weather, news, an online search powered by GoogleTM and also office functions. In the “Applications” menu, it is also possible to assemble an individualised array of services such as webcams, parking information, and travel and hotel guides.
This also includes comfortable, secure and unlimited access to selected smartphone apps. The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services also enables access to the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, in which services and apps can be assembled at any time and anywhere according to individual requirements. The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services offers many more similar options, making every trip in a BMW a real driving experience.

  • BMW ConnectedDrive Store

    Services and apps to suit every need can be purchased individually from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. These services can be flexibly selected and ordered at any time after the purchase of the BMW. This allows customers to choose from all the available BMW ConnectedDrive services and apps directly from the car at all times based on their needs.
    The BMW ConnectedDrive Store can be accessed on the go from inside the BMW, or via the “My BMW ConnectedDrive” online customer portal. The newly ordered services and apps are then accessible in the car shortly after being chosen and purchased. The BMW ConnectedDrive Store provides updated information on the selection of available services and apps at all times.
    The services and apps that can be ordered in the BMW ConnectedDrive store have been specially developed to suit the needs and demands of BMW drivers. The duration of individual services can also be selected. This allows customers to order services for a specified period of time, for example during their holiday.

  • BMW Apps

    The Apps equipment feature is a platform enabling convenient use of selected smartphone apps in BMW vehicles. To make a variety of apps available for their customers, BMW not only develops its own apps, such as BMW Connected App and the BMW M laptimer, but also works closely with partners like Spotify, Napster, GoPro, Deezer and Audible so that those apps can also be used safely inside the car. Simply attach a compatible smartphone to the vehicle via the Snap-in adapter or a smartphone USB cable, or wirelessly. All of the app's functions can then be conveniently operated via the iDrive Controller. The selection of apps available for use in the car is constantly expanding thanks to close partnerships between BMW and a variety of different suppliers. BMW CONNECTED.

BMW Connected is a personal mobility assistant which facilitates everyday mobility and aids drivers in reaching their destinations relaxed and on time. All relevant services are also remotely available at all times on iPhone und Apple Watch via the app.


Destinations that have been found in the web or via other application such as Yelp, Apple Maps, Google Maps can be easily and conveniently imported into BMW Connected and seamlessly transferred to the vehicles navigation system with just a single click. Meetings, including addresses and intended arrival times, saved in the iPhone calendar are automatically imported into the BMW Connected mobility agenda. Based on current location and traffic conditions, BMW Connect calculates the planned arrival time, alerts users ahead of time and guides them on foot from the parked car to their final destination. If a delay is unavoidable due to unforeseeable traffic obstacles or if no parking space is available in the immediate vicinity of the final destination, users can send a text message via BMW connected to inform the waiting party of the estimated time of arrival, without having to physically use their phone. In addition, BMW Connected learns to recognize frequent destinations and automatically adds them to the mobility agenda.

CONCIERGE SERVICES.

For anyone who has ever wanted to know what it is like to have their own personal butler, here is a chance: with the Concierge Services from BMW ConnectedDrive. At the touch of a button one is being put through to the BMW Call Centre agents who are available as “personal assistants” for the driver on the road.
Whether looking for a particular restaurant, the nearest cash dispenser or an emergency pharmacy – a BMW Call Centre agent is there to help and can send address details directly to the navigation system on demand. The Concierge Services operate independently of the driver's mobile phone and is available at home and abroad round the clock, seven days a week at no extra cost.

REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION.

Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details of the time and duration of hold-ups are relayed virtually in real time. The data is drawn from such sources as movement profiles from the mobile phone network, the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports. This data is analysed so precisely that it is possible to accurately localise traffic congestion to within 100 metres. This enables RTTI to provide information almost instantly on the current traffic situation on motorways, main roads, country roads and numerous urban routes, and to recommend sound alternative routes.
The visualisation of the traffic information is optimised thanks to a colour display of the roads in green, yellow, orange and red.

REMOTE SERVICES.

With the Remote Services of the BMW Connected App (available in the Apple App Store), various vehicle-related functions, such as locking and unlocking the car, can be operated remotely.

Just as the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal, the app also offers the opportunity to access vehicle information such as range or the status of the windows and doors. That way the driver is always fully informed about the status of the vehicle, even from a distance, and also has all information conveniently gathered together at one glance.

This information package is rounded out with the display of the vehicle’s current location. To use this feature, customers simply need to activate Remote Services once in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal at www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.

ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT.

The perfect song for every situation, every road and every mood. Online Entertainment offers direct and unlimited access in a BMW to more than 22 million music titles – all without a smartphone or other device. There are plenty of tracks here to suit every taste. As soon as an artist's song or album is played in the car, it is automatically downloaded to the car's hard disc.
With the Online Entertainment offer, a flat-rate account lasting one year can be opened with any BMW music partner, for example with Napster, which can be used in six different European countries at no additional cost: Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
Only available in conjunction with the optional equipment ConnectedDrive Services and the Navigation system Professional .

INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL.

Intelligent Emergency Call permits fast, targeted assistance in emergency situations round-the-clock as well as support by trained staff – in the driver's native language, even when abroad. If a serious accident takes place involving activation of an air bag or the belt tensioners, an Intelligent Emergency Call is automatically issued. Relevant details for rescue such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW call centre via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independently of a private mobile phone. The BMW call centre informs the nearest rescue coordination centre and provides assistance the over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually in case others on the road require help, for example.
