NAVIGATION PLUS.

Navigation Plus including the BMW Head-Up Display brings together several useful components: a navigation system with built-
in 8.8" LCD colour display, radio, MP3 player, RDS double tuner and an instrument cluster with high-resolution 5.7" TFT display. The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects relevant driving information directly into the driver's line of vision, so that he or she can better focus on driving. Route guidance is provided via an arrow and map display, along with spoken instructions. The system is operated intuitively using either the iDrive Touch Controller, the direct menu control buttons and eight functional bookmarks, voice control or the touchscreen with interactive tiles, which display live content. The system is also equipped with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a hands-free facility.

Navigation Plus shows drivers the quick and direct route through numerous European countries and in some cases even further afield. TMC technology is used for the early detection of traffic obstructions and for rapid calculation of alternative routes, so that the vehicle reaches its destination as quickly as possible while avoiding traffic.

  • iDrive Touch Controller

    The iDrive Touch Controller (part of navigation system Professional) enables intuitive and convenient operation of the iDrive system. The touchpad integrated into the Controller enables the user to easily enter destinations into the navigation system by writing them by hand. The entry appears in the Control Display.

BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY.

The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, thereby allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. The display includes information such as the current speed, navigation directions, Speed Limit Info incl. no-overtaking indicator, along with telephone and entertainment lists.

DRIVING ASSISTANT.

The safety package Driving Assistant is a combination of the camera-based systems High-beam assistant, Speed Limit Info and Lane Departure Warning, as well as Approach control warning and Person warning with light city braking function.
The High-beam assistant provides the best vision in darkness by avoiding other drivers when purposefully distributing the high-beam light. Intelligent Speed Limit Info recognises the current speed limits via camera and by comparison with navigation data, along with data from other systems such as GPS or rain sensors, in order to take limits into consideration that apply only for specific times or under wet conditions.
Lane Departure Warning causes the steering wheel to vibrate when the vehicle unintentionally leaves its lane at speeds of over 70 km/h. In critical situations, Approach control warning notifies the driver in two steps. The person warning operates at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h and emits a single-level warning in the event of acute danger. At the same time, the brakes are pre-conditioned for faster responsiveness. In case of an emergency, the system initiates braking, ensuring that the collision speed is reduced. If a vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, incrementally stronger warnings are emitted, up to light braking.

PARKING ASSISTANT.

The Parking assistant makes parking parallel to the road easier. Whether activated or not, the system measures potential spaces while driving past at a low speed (below 35 km/h) and at a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars. When a large enough gap has been found, the driver simply turns on the indicator and the Parking assistant takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the accelerator, gears and brakes. The system also gives instructions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. This way the driver can stay relaxed and enjoy greater safety while parking.

The Rear view camera enables improved orientation when reversing at speeds below 15 km/h, for example when parking. It shows the area behind the car on the Control Display. Interactive track lines for measuring distance and turning circles assist the driver when manoeuvring, obstacles are marked in colour.

PARK DISTANCE CONTROL.

Park Distance Control (PDC) at the rear makes it easier to reverse and park the car in tight spaces. The proximity of obstacles behind the vehicle is indicated acoustically with a warning signal, as well as visually in the Control Display.
